User Data Deletion – Dev Boys Hostel Portal

This page explains how you can request deletion of your personal data associated with the Dev Boys Hostel portal and WhatsApp reminder services.

1. What data can be deleted

Subject to legal and accounting requirements, we can delete or anonymize:

  • Your hostel portal account (login ID and profile).
  • Contact details such as name, phone number, and email stored in our system.
  • WhatsApp/SMS reminder preferences and related logs after a reasonable retention period.
  • Stored usage data and analytics linked to your account.

We may need to retain certain information related to payments, invoices, and hostel stay history for legal, tax, or accounting purposes even after you leave.

2. How to request data deletion

You can submit a data deletion request in any of these ways:

a) From your registered WhatsApp number

  • Open WhatsApp and start a chat with our official number: +91-75986-48001.
  • Send the message: “Requesting data deletion”.
  • We may ask you for simple verification (for example, full name, room number, registered mobile number) to confirm your identity.

b) By email

  • Send an email to hello@boyshostel.in with the subject: “User Data Deletion Request”.
  • Include your full name, registered mobile number, and, if applicable, your hostel room number and check-in date.

c) By phone or in person

  • Call us at +91-75986-48001 or visit the hostel office and inform us that you want your data deleted.
  • We may ask you to confirm the request in writing (WhatsApp or email) for security.

3. Verification and processing time

To protect your privacy, we will verify that you are the account holder or an authorized person before processing the deletion request.

  • Once verified, we will confirm receipt of your request.
  • We aim to complete deletion or anonymization of eligible data within 30 days of confirmation, unless a different period is required by law.

If we cannot delete certain data because of legal or accounting requirements, we will explain what will be retained and why.

4. Effect of deletion

After your data is deleted:

  • You will no longer be able to log in to the portal or view your rent/food history online.
  • You will stop receiving WhatsApp/SMS reminders and notices from us (except limited messages required by law or for ongoing disputes).
  • Some anonymized data (for example, statistics or totals with no personal identifiers) may be kept to help us understand and improve our services.

If you return as a resident in the future, you may need to create a new account and share your details again.
