These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Dev Boys Hostel website, login portal, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Service description

The Service allows registered users (residents/tenants) to:

  • View hostel stay details, rent, food plans, and payment history.
  • Receive WhatsApp/SMS/email reminders about rent, food charges, and important notices.
  • Update certain profile information and contact details.

The Service is provided “as is” to help manage your hostel stay and payments.

2. Eligibility and account

  • You must be a current or past resident/tenant, or an authorized user, to access the portal.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
  • You agree to notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or misuse the Service.

3. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful, abusive, or fraudulent purposes.
  • Attempt to hack, disrupt, or interfere with the Service or networks.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or copy the Service, except as permitted by law.
  • Share other users’ personal data obtained through the Service without their consent.

We may monitor usage for security and abuse prevention.

4. Fees and payments

  • Rent, food charges, and other fees are defined in your hostel admission/booking documents, not in this portal.
  • The portal may show payment status and history for convenience, but the official amounts and due dates remain as per your hostel agreement and bills.
  • Any online payment links or gateways (if provided) will be subject to their own terms and charges.

5. WhatsApp reminders and communications

By providing your mobile number and using our hostel services, you agree that we may send you service-related messages, including:

  • Rent and food due date reminders.
  • Payment confirmations and receipts.
  • Important hostel notices, rule updates, and emergency alerts.

You can opt out of these reminders by following the opt-out instructions in the message (for example, sending “STOP”) or contacting us directly.

6. Third-party services

We may use third-party providers such as hosting, WhatsApp API providers, SMS gateways, and analytics tools to deliver the Service. Your use of WhatsApp is also subject to WhatsApp’s own terms and policies.

We are not responsible for interruptions or issues caused by third-party platforms, networks, or providers.

7. Data protection and privacy

Our handling of your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using the Service, you also agree to our Privacy Policy.

8. Service availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may:

  • Modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service.
  • Add or remove features for maintenance, improvement, or legal reasons.

We will try to give reasonable notice of major changes where practicable.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without any warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of your use of or inability to use the Service, including data loss or missed reminders. Our total liability for any claim will be limited to the amount of hostel portal service fees (if any) paid by you to us for the period in question.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account or access to the Service if:

  • You violate these Terms or hostel rules.
  • We discontinue the Service or are required to do so by law.

You may stop using the Service at any time and request deletion of your account and related data (subject to legal retention needs).

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, unless otherwise required by law.
